CHANTAL RITA DANIOKO

Am Chantal Rita Danioko from Rwanda.
Married, and a mother of two. I love singing and spending time with my family and friends.

I grew up in a family with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Life was good until I had to leave my country and all that I knew at the age of 14 was to come to Germany without my family. Starting life in a new continent, a new culture  and language as a Teenager was not easy but through my faith in God I managed to overcome all the challenges my status as a teenage refugee came with.

Growing up, I was always told to study hard so my main focus was education. This was my key to a better my life and still is.
In all the companies I have worked for in the last 15 years, I was the only black person and sometimes felt very lonely in this environment.

I missed out having a black sister as a colleague  or manager to look up to in my work environment, someone to be an example for me. I somehow felt like my white colleagues were privileged.

After working in the tourism industry for more than 15 years, I felt I had to change my career, go back to school.
I have a diploma in Buisness Administration.
I want to fight for my black sisters.
They should not be limited due to their skin colour but given the voice and chance to show their skills. We can do better. Our children should know that they can be everything if they work hard and without feeling limited due to their skin colour.

I want to encourage the younger generation  to work hard, aim higher and never give up. It’s never too late no matter your history, your background, religion or skin colour. We can do it in Africa and elsewhere.

I am very thankful for the Black Women Alliance platform that enables me to connect with black women of all age groups to support, motivate and encourage eachother in a safe community.

I love to read and write and published my first book: Confessions of a Ghanaian Girl in 2016. I have also founded the first ever African Book Club in Munich, Germany dedicated only to books written by authors of African origin.
